John “Matthew” Franzen DDS
Dr. Franzen, a proud Houston native, earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, and later obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, TX. As a second-generation dentist, he is committed to delivering outstanding dental care to all his patients and looks forward to establishing meaningful connections with each individual.
Actively engaged in the dental community, Dr. Franzen currently serves as the chair of the Greater Houston Dental Society’s Membership and New Dentist Committee. He also holds a position on the board of the University of Texas School of Dentistry Alumni Association and is a dedicated member of the Texas Dental Association’s Smiles Foundation New Dentist Committee. Driven by a passion for philanthropy, he actively volunteers in dental mission events, participating in Texas Mission of Mercy throughout the state and collaborating with various dental missionary groups in Central America.

Theresa Richardson RDA
Theresa Richardson holds the position of Lead Dental Assistant at Franzen Dental. She has an impressive career spanning over 25 years in the dental field. Additionally, her dedication to fostering strong relationships with patients and aiding them in achieving their dental goals is at the forefront of her professional ethos.
Beyond her role in the dental practice, Theresa is a devoted mother of three and takes immense pride in her role as a grandmother. In her leisure time, she finds joy in spoiling her grandchildren, creating cherished memories with them. Theresa’s contentment is often found with a Dutch Bros coffee in hand, reflecting her appreciation for simple pleasures.
Office Manager
Natalia “Nat” Richardson
Natalia Richardson serves as the Office Manager at Franzen Dental. She brings a wealth of experience from her previous role as a General Manager in the food industry. While new to the dental field, Natalia has quickly embraced and developed a passion for it. Hailing from Monterrey, N.L., Mexico, she is fluent in both English and Spanish, and actively engages in learning additional languages.
Natalia’s transition from the food industry to dentistry has been a positive and enriching experience. Furthermore, her background has equipped her with valuable skills in management and customer relations. She seamlessly applies these skills to her current role.
With a keen interest in understanding human behavior and communication, Natalia finds the interactions within the dental profession fascinating. Likewise, she welcomes opportunities to engage with people, appreciating the diverse ways individuals think and present themselves.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Natalia has a special fondness for dogs and encourages sharing pictures of these beloved companions.
